Are you tired of complaining about YOUR elected officials
By Mike Crane

As just about everyone is aware this is an election year. And I would like to present a question that hopefully is on many people’s mind. And then provide some possible Options from a personal perspective.

The question is one that is very simple, one that everybody can understand:

Are you tired of complaining about the actions of YOUR elected officials?

If your answer is "No" then there is no need to read any further, just delete or throw this away and swear allegiance to the descendants of King George’s mentality.

So if you got to here your answer was "Yes," so lets look at what your options are. From my perspective I see five options. In my life I have at one time or another chosen to do all five, so I am not going to criticize anyone’s choice. I am 53 years old, and just like any mortal man have made so many mistakes in my life that when I sing "Amazing Grace" the words "… a wretch like me" ring home.

Option I. Do nothing, but just keep on complaining …

This is probably the largest group of people, and the group that will send the nastiest replies to this article. I can understand this group and as stated above have at times been part of it. It is so easy to just complain. It is so easy to say, " … can’t do anything about it!"

But if this group was truly honest, they should have answered the question with "No." They are NOT tried of complaining about the actions of their elected officials!

So if this fits you, feel free to fire off your complaint about this article. As a former member of this group I understand and take no offense. But the truth is that you, just as I was, are worthless. You have reaped the benefits from your birthright and are willing to trade it for your selfish purposes and not pass it on to your grandchildren.

Option II. Work within the Republican or Democratic Parties …

This is the second largest group and I have been part of both parties. Until 1988 I worked within the Democratic Party and from 1988 until 1999 worked within the Republican Party. I cannot count how many times I used the concept "… lesser of two evils" argument.

Of course the result has been "evil that is not as evil as …" My termination with this approach came when the Republican Party demonstrated their true feelings to me. After several years of being a campaign asset, being on county committees, etc I complained about their abandoning a principle that I believed in strongly and was told in so many words, " … to grow up! That to win elections we HAD TO BE FLEXIBLE!"

So pick your principle, pick your issue and it will not matter. You can debate the murdering of the unborn, but the party will give it lip service so that they can be "FLEXIBLE!" You can debate Southern Heritage but when expedient, the party will trade it to be "FLEXIBLE!" Etc., Etc. When faced with having to "grow up" I opted to grow up out and away.

But if this is your choice, then get involved NOW. There are some good people in the Republican Party and they need your support!

Good people in the Democratic Party are an endangered species, but since the current Democratic Party would consider King George a part of the right wing conspiracy, will not waste any more space on them.

Option III. Work within the "Third" Parties …

This choice has been gaining some favor lately. I would assume that the main interest would be in the Libertarian or Constitution Parties. The Reform Party showed a brief spark of light with Pat Buchanan, but it seems to have self-destructed and he has stated that he is out the elective office business.

But these parties have a major flaw, they insist on throwing their treasury and credibility on the line every four years in a fruitless Presidential race. Without the local base and organization across the country to support such an effort, it has little hope of success. Polling 1-3% destroys their credibility.

But if this is your choice, get involved NOW. Help the third party of your choice build the local base that they need in your area. Insist that they stand on principle and do the hard work at the local level that it takes to be successful and do your part.

Option IV. Create a grass roots effort …

This is the least frequent choice, but the one that I believe offers the most potential for success. It is the least frequent choice, because it represents the most work, requires a focus exclusively on starting at the local level, and means that in many cases you will be standing alone. I have chosen the Southern Party of Georgia, as the most viable and principled grassroots effort in my area.

If you have chosen one of the choices above, but are not satisfied with it, give this choice some consideration.

Option V. Say none of these are worth the effort …

Then you either qualify for Option I or should have answered the question with a "No." Either way, you are not tired of complaining about your elected officials yet. Keep reading the Truth Newspaper, read some history about Our Founding Fathers and think about your grandchildren and soon you will soon be ready to choose one of the other Options and get involved.

In summary, the principles upon which our country was founded are being abandoned, your grandchildren’s birthright is being sold, and it isn’t going to change until you make it change! Get involved!
