Legalizing illegals - political double
talk for "I am not telling you the Truth"
There seems
to be some confusion as to the real position of the current Republican Administration on
immigration. It is presented to the public in complex terms, for example
"... we do need to legalize illegals."
Now what in the blazes does it mean when the Administration's new
Mega Branch of Government Secretary says that we should legalize 8 to 12
million illegals?
Well here is what it means to me:
1) The fact that they admit there are 8 - 12 million illegal
immigrants in the country is an admission that
immigration is out of control. If it was not, why so many? We
spend billions of dollars a year on a host of government employees whose
only purpose is to protect our borders and enforce the laws. And yet, 8
- 12 million are known to have circumvented the law?
2) Using the term legalize, means that they want them all to stay!
And by starting them down the process of legalizing their illegal
activity you can bet the farm that YOU will pay their legal costs. Lets
see, 12 million (bet the number is low) times $5,000 in expensive
attorney fees and government paper pusher salaries comes to
$60,000,000,000.00. Most say the $5,000.00 per case is low, so
substitute your own number, 12 million times anything is a lot of money.
3) By once again showing the world that we will legalize anyone
who commits an illegal act to get here, the rush of illegal immigrants
to this country will increase! Why not? Those stupid American taxpayers
will either foot the bill or pass it on to their grandkids. Besides once
we sneak in, the American tax payers will give us benefits denied to
American tax payers until they decide to pay our legal costs so that we
can be legalized. What a racket, your grandchildren lose all the way
around.
The rate of legal immigration is set too high under current law.
It is detrimental to American society. Illegal immigration is a national
scandal. What Ridge is really saying in the article below is that due to
political issues such as votes and campaign contributions the
Administration will not perform their Constitutional duty of protecting
our borders. They also do not care how much of the taxpayer's hard
earned money they waste to get those votes and contributions.
This is not even a partisan issue any more. Bush wants
those immigrants for his corporate buddies and the Hispanic votes.
Pandering in both cases. The Democrats are even worse.
The idea of granting legal status to people who have
broken the law to get here is just wrong. It is not good for you, your
family, your community and it only sends a message for more to come.
In fact after next years election I would guess that both the Republicans
and Democrats will be rushing to legalize the illegals so that they can be
the one most likely to get those votes.
If you do not want this to
happen, stopping it is up to you the citizens!
Anyway, you can read Ridge's own words in the article
that follows:
Tom Ridge: Time to legalize illegals
The United
States should legalize millions of illegal immigrants living in
the country, said Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge in a
speech in Miami yesterday.

"The bottom line is, as a country we have to come to grips
with the presence of 8 to 12 million illegals, afford them some
kind of legal status some way, but also as a country decide what
our immigration policy is and then enforce it," Ridge said,
according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Ridge was speaking at a town hall meeting at Miami-Dade
Community College, the second forum in a national series
organized by the nonprofit Council for Excellence in Government.
The group is seeking to develop homeland security
recommendations for various levels of government and the public,
the Florida paper said.
Responding to a question from the audience of about 300,
Ridge said he thinks a consensus is building that it is time to
address the situation of illegal immigrants, who, he said,
contribute to the country and pay taxes.
A growing number of bills would give residency to some of
those people he said, adding one that requires them to leave the
country before applying for legal status is "not workable."
"I'm not saying make them citizens, because they violated the
law to get here," he said, according to the Sun-Sentinel. "So
you don't reward that type of conduct by turning over a
citizenship certificate. You determine how you can legalize
their presence, then, as a country, you make a decision that
from this day forward, from this day forward, this is the
process of entry, and if you violate that process of entry we
have the resources to cope with it."
Ridge praised Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for the state's
investment in homeland security, amounting to $403 million this
year. Most of those funds comes from the $29.4 billion allotted
by the federal government for domestic security.
Bush told a national security advisory council yesterday, "In
the event of a disaster, a terrorist attack of any kind, ...
today we are better trained, better equipped, better
coordinated," the Sun-Sentinel reported.
The paper said the town hall audience was asked if they felt
safer than they did a year ago. Fifty-two percent answered yes,
28 percent said no, and 20 percent said they felt the same.
